:icontattered-dreams:' Mega Tack Tutorial Part 1 - Saddle Basics by Tattered-Dreams

This gorgeous and superiorily informative tack tutorial is one of the newest and most comprehensive on dA!  Great diagrams, clean explanations and step-by-step instructions make this infographic a must-have for every HaRPGer and horse lover.  Check it out, and give it a fave!

:iconhorsepoint:'s Genotyping ServiceLong story short, I love messing around with genes, and I wanted to spread the love. C: (Short story slightly longer, I can pretty much do horse colour genes in my sleep (quite literally; that is an embarrassing story for another day) and taught myself dog colour genes the other day, so this is sort of a combination of celebration and practice in the case of the dogs, and a bit of relaxation for me. xD Cats are next on the list to learn, but I want to have dogs more ingrained first before I go there.)
So anybody who wants their horse or dog's genotype, roll up! :3
If anyone wants to check what I'm using, the (natural) genes I use are listed fairly concisely here.

Send me your animal's information (a link to your animal's ref is good) and any notes you want to tell me on it - either comment here or note me with the subject "Genotyping Service". All the better if you have the phenotype (physical expression of

:iconstalkerofwind:'s Harpg Stable Questions.Any one and everyone can use this and modify it how they see fit.
I wrote this because I am stuck in a loop of don't know what to write down for my own stable. This is helping me get the gears rolling out on my edit.
What is the name of your stable?
Where is it located?
What is your mission,[ why do you have a stable. Or what does it specialize in?]
What else does your stable do?
Who are the staff?
How do they like life at the stable?
How did they come to work at the stable?
What is their favorite horse breed?
What job do they do?
Do they enjoy there work?
Do they own pets?
Who is the oldest?
Who is the youngest?
Do they have a weakness? [ what makes them sad, or something that limits them at times.]
What is it? [ Don’t have to share if you do not want to.]
What do they study? [when not at the stable, a hobby, or special interest. ]
What horse is the Lead horse of the stable?
Why?
Do the other stable horses get along well?
Do they like to work?
What are their favorite treats? [as

This cool little questionnaire has a ton of questions all geared for a roleplay stable. It can really help flesh out both horse and people characters.  Fave it and fill it out!

:iconmiscnapier:'s <da:thumb id="385253542"/> <da:thumb id="392605212"/>

Sadness abounds for our poor heroine Griand.  She is torn by a love for her mate Misquel, and the promise of freedom from his tyranny.  Can Griand find the strength to make the right decision?  With MiscNapier's unmistakeable style, this comic is bound to leave you itching for more; definitely give her a watch!

Have a storyline or roleplay you want featured here? Or maybe an epic idea for fellow players?  Or some juicy info on whatever?  Send us at HARPG-Newsletter a Note titled Headlines with the links to the art, stories or journals and we'll see about getting it up!

:bulletorange: HaRPG Olympics 2013! :bulletorange:

Written by MissDudette

This is Cat for the HARPG-Newsletter coming to y'all LIVE at the scene of that most prestigious and land-breaking competition, the 2013 HaRPG Olympics!  TV and radio hosts are everywhere around me, filming the event.  The audience is absolutely alive, and the energy in this stadium is incredible.  I'll stream a little info on the show for y'all while waiting for results to come up; all classes have finished and we are now awaiting the placings.  After results, we'll be rushing in for an insider's scoop with each gold medalist.  Just listen to that crowd roar!

The 2013 Olympics this year was met with passion, a little strife and more imagination than ever before seen.  After a bit of upset when Olympics creator Pudingi placed the entire show into the hands of legendary pirate abosz007, HaRPGers everywhere were in disbelief.  Could a pioneer of the original HaRPG community pull together such a giant and well-known show?  Even after founder Pudingi had run it so successfully for years?  abosz007 thought so.  And he did!  He brainstormed and imagined a show of such epic proportions, it could no longer be called just a show.  It was the EVENT of the YEAR.  This incredible competition received rave reviews for its amazing production, clean format and challenging courses.  Prestigious team-members, sponsors and judges for the event included legendary artists Jullelin, dat-inu, Templado, Mendokusee, life-d-sign and cyprussian.  New rules were implemented, old regulations were stripped away. Horses and stables everywhere underwent rigorous training, testing and screening to gain access to this incredible competition.  The community came alive with events specifically geared to help horses gain access to the Olympics, and stables everywhere rooted for their preferred teams.

But all this change and passionate work did have its share of drama, but what event of the year doesn't?  abosz007 brought the show back to its roots, a celebration of the original HorseArt-RPG, and was asked to bring his opinion forth on this controversial decision.  These heated debates grew even hotter when the creator of HorseArt-RPG retired from her role as founder just before the Olympics began.  The community was in an uproar, but abosz007 did not let the Olympics fail.  The event of the year withstood this test of fire, and emerged stronger than ever before!

The placings are in!  LISTEN to that crowd! Good grief, the cheers in this stadium are deafening!  Congratulations to Olympic gold medalists:
samuRAI-same in Endurance, 3-Day Event and Cross Country!
Shotechi and Boooberry in Showjumping!
Nalonyda in Dressage!
and bovidaeloony in Driving!
And what's that?  Mendokusee has just won Judge's Choice!
I can literally feel the applause rocking this entire stadium!  The stars are coming down from the podiums, and we are with them right now.

samuRAI-same: What did you think of your horses doing so well?  You've swept the board, earning golds in Endurance, Cross Country and 3-Day Event!
*Vicen probably about to faint* "Shocked honestly. I really can't believe this.  I was a little worried with Arro, he's been a bit temperamental lately and can be quite stubborn. He really proved me wrong, though. I think it does show our strength, in that my stable's been a little bit of a underdog coming here with such well known stables. I hope we can be a little more known in what we can do with our horses.  Aylen is such a special horse as well.  I have to say her win goes fully to her. Her determination and strength never falters. I hope she can be proud of her win and that she knows I'm beyond proud of her."
*Sam is a little surprised by the sudden reporter* "I can't believe it! Well I know Hadya is an amazing horse and of course hoping for the gold, but there were some crazy good horse and rider teams competing! I think mostly what I have to say is my brother better show me some more respect. Not such a little kid now! XP"
*Alok staying completely calm and collected* "I could not be more proud and honored to have Joukei as a partner. I think in our many years together we have grown to understand each other quite well. Allowing a horse with his handicap to compete at such a level. Though there were a few moments I felt like it all could have ended badly. Finishing, let alone winning gold is beyond what I had expected." *bows head a little* "I greatly thank the hosts and my fellow competitors for allowing us to join them in this wonderful event."

Shotechi and Boooberry: A tie for gold in showjumping!  What do you two think of this historic first?
Sho, "Thank you very much!! Well... at first I was, of course, a little bit blown away. I mean, an event as big as the HaRPG-Olympics... and I really had made it to the first place.. that's just cool!  And I was even more amazed when I saw that there were two first places! I mean, that's like 'the' perfect result, nobody has to be upset because of random numbers (and I know that case!)... what more could one want? xD  I loved the event - it was extremely well-structured, inspiring, and fun to enter! And a really big challenge for me (and every other artist who entered, I dare to say)."
Lit, *surprised like hell and speechless*  "Umm .. yeah umm .. so the gold is absolutely a dream come true, and I have absolutely nothing to complain about. :XD:  Dummy was amazing, she isn't exactly the youngest anymore, but I feel like she is just getting better and better with years. She fought so hard for me today, and I couldn't be prouder of her. Uhh the tie? Well I don't exactly have an opinion about that, haven't created one yet, I was and still am too shocked by everything going on right now!"

Nalonyda: Dark, your boy Coldalo'naj has earned yet another Olympic gold medal!  What are your first thoughts?
*Nathalie is shocked for a moment, then smiled at the camera* "It's amazing, like a dream that has become reality. I was so sad, but also proud, that Cold won last year without me, with another rider. But he did it again for me, this year. I'm still shaking from what's just happened! I still can't believe it!"

bovidaeloony: Your team won copper last year, and now they've won gold!  What are your first thoughts?
"We are overwhelmingly excited about our win! Richard and Jack have been working incredibly hard to get this pair of young Fjords ready and experienced on a variety of courses in time for the games. Our drivers took home 3rd place last year in the same event with a different pair of horses, so it is incredibly gratifying for all of us to have improved on our previous best achievement! As always we have to extend a warm thank you to the show organizers who did an amazing job to make the Olympics both fun and challenging for everyone. We hope our appearance may also highlight driving as a fun and fast paced discipline for those who hadn't considered it so before, and to show that ponies can make it in the big leagues."

Mendokusee: A Judge's Choice!  I'm pretty sure that's a first in the Olympics!  What are your thoughts on this prestigious award?
*holding back tears* "Thank you so much Cat!  We are all shocked and so so happy that we got this amazing award since we didn't even knew it existed! xD  We're so honored that we were awarded this fine prize cause we all felt that we had done everything and more in our participation!  We are of course more then happy with what we accomplished but this!?" *starts crying* "Wow, thank you so much!  I, and I know my crew just hope that the Ha-RPG Olympics will return next year!"

The crowd is absolutely on fire.  We at the Newsletter would like to thank all the Olympic competitors, and abosz007 for giving us such a wonderful show.  We'd also like to thank you, the reader, for staying with us coast to coast as we cover all of the biggest HaRPG happenings.  Thank you for being so passionate about HaRPG.  I think I can say for everyone here, to be here is such an incredible journey and we can not wait for next year.  Long live the HaRPG Olympics!

Equine breeds; Humankind's unique spin on God's horse.

Voodoo Breed sheet by Lumanii The Voodoo horse is a handsome and well-thought out breed from Lumanii.  These creatures have bone-like markings, bone body jewelry and exquisite eyes.  Stallions grow horns for the Rut season, similar to deer, and mares have black voodoo markings (as apposed to white ones on males).  They're great for endurance stables, or anyone looking for a little voodoo in their barn.  The breedsheet also has some history facts on the breed (from their world) that could make for some interesting roleplaying options should a stable adopt one of these horses.  This Voodoo breed is not free to make, but give Lumanii a watch for more info!

If you want your or someone's else's breed featured, send a Note to the HARPG-Newsletter titled Horse Breed Feature with links to the  breedsheet, breed registry (if possible) and breed history (if possible).  I'll feature otherworldly and realistic breeds!

Featuring Illudyr!

Introduce yourself and your stables to the Newsletter; what’s your name and what got you started in horses?
Heyy! My real name is Wendy, a crazy 15 year old girl haha!
I've been into horses and drawing since I was 3 or four, at least around that age.
My first horse was created when I was around 10/11 and I always drew her in my notebook during class, her name was Callage, a white horse with black mane, she got more and more abandoned when I got bullied more and more, and in that time, a year or so later, is when Faith Fairy was born, a grey Arabian with white legs and teeth like stripes running down her back, Callage still stood on the front of my notebook, but Faith Fairy was the main character.  After a while the bullying got even worse, and I started drawing undead things, cats with missing paws, killed horses who got a better life in heaven, I got in a state of depression and created Juodas Varnas.   He was the first one that was ever uploaded to deviantart. He was my guardian angel, a monster from the outside, an angel on the inside. I loved and still do love this stallion. He was the beginning of my character life here on deviantart, and the beginning of my stable.

What inspired you to join the HaRPG community?
You should know that my role model is Nalonyda, I truly love her horses, all of them.  And she comes up with amazing horses again and again and one day I saw her horses in the HARPG group, and I wanted it too.  To make great art and have well known horses. I wanted to be just like one of those great artist with their great art, and just be seen and noticed. The reason I joined HARPG was to make art, make art with an aim - to get my horses to high rankings, and get better and be a recognized artist one day.

What are your stables about? What does your staff (if any) entail? What horse breeds does your stable work with and why?
My stable right now is a sport stable. It's not realistic and it doesn't really follow a storyline right now. But I want my stable to be a big sports stable, and specialize in horse racing one day, but that's not really a common discipline haha. :'P  Right now we have a small breeding program and some foals, all (or at least most) of my horses will be ridden bitless, except when a bit is required. I try to keep my stable as natural as possible, and train my horses with as much love as possible. And that's what the staff does of course, taking care of the horses, training the horses and loving them. I mostly have fantasy horses, and some realistic. But I definitely prefer the fantasy.

Which of your in-game/real life horses do you feel you connect with the most?
Juodas Varnas. He has been with me from the start and also was the foundation stallion of everything I have right now on deviantart. In my head he has become almost real, he gave me the strength to go on all those years.

Are there any major accomplishments with your stables? Like, are there any big wins? What mark has your stables left in the HaRPG world?
Haha no, not yet, but that will come fast enough! Right now I'm just competing, getting bad placings and not really earning anything. But I'm sure Fahren Dale will get more successful along the way. :)

What are your plans for your stable’s future?
Well, mostly to make it more successful, and learn from everything that happens. All wins and losses are something to learn from, we will train harder get successful, produce some great foals and maybe even win gold at the HaRPG-Olympics.  But there are no concrete plans right now, just finish all the competitions we are registered for.

What tools do you use to produce your art? Where do you get your inspiration?
Well, right now my tools are a HP Probook 6540b series, a Wacom Graphire4 and Photoshop CS5.5 white rabbit, and my comfy chair or bed. :3 My inspiration comes from songs. I usually listen to rock, metal and country but I always seem to find something funny in every song, and of course my wobblepudding brain. I would be nowhere without my sweet brains!

Describe a typical day for you when you create art, do you have any sort of routine?
In vacations I usually awake, around ten to twelve in the morning. I do some chores, eat something and sit down on my couch in a comfortable position (laptop in front of me on the table or the other end of the couch, and my tablet on my lap) and then it's time to turn up the music and let the inspiration flow! After the first 10 sketches and failed linearts I usually have something acceptable. :P Then I eat again, walk the dog and color my drawing, I usually get my inspiration from my dog running around in the light of the setting sun.  And when I go to school it's mostly the same, except for the fact that I draw a whole lot during class. x3

What are your plans for your artistic future?
I'm now doing HAVO (a pretty high education level) in middle school, 3rd class. That's similar to the 9th grade or so?  And after that I want to go the the grahic lyceum, and go for graphic designer. After that I want to do the art academy. (Sorry for people who don't understand this, it is a Dutch schooling system,) and then become a professional artist and graphic designer. :3

Have a bit of inspiration to give your fellow equestrians as a final word?
Always stay true to yourself and put your heart and soul in your art.
Art is a reflection of the soul.
Without your love and effort, it's not worth a thing.

Big Overhaul - Selling horsesSo I've decided to keep a select few horses as HARPG (competitors), a few OCs for RPing, and then a few "Pasture Horses" for special attachments that I don't exactly know what to do with yet. I'll be moving a good bit of horses I like that can be cross bred over to my long lost account socksNstars to be turned into pony OCs. Side Note: That account is super empty right now. Still in the process of moving things over ;) And then that leaves everyone else. The horses that I no longer have much interest in or just don't get enough attention from me.
I'll be listing horses here to be sold and updating the journal as I add more. If you'd like a sneak peak at the contestants, you can check out this folder: https://doviecaba.deviantart.com/favourites/56655592
Basically, I'm not going to put up horses in this journal till I check with other parties that have first dibs (breed owners, parents of lined foals, group affiliates, ect.)

Stables are important, too!

<da:thumb id="410730651"/> and :icondiamond-vale: by QueenHalloween

Check out this gorgeous stable!  SlayerMoon's place features all sorts of horses on a little island named Kiwarda Island just off the US state of South Carolina.  Greenery and lushness are a big factor of the island, and this atmosphere is carried through in the artist's choice of stable journal skins (she also has a thorough website dedicated to her stable!).  Most of the horses here are Nordies with a few random breeds thrown in, and many have done well in competitions around the world.  Diamond Vale boasts more than 10 golds, and almost as many silvers and coppers.  QueenHalloween also contributes to the HaRPG community.  She is an admin at Nordanner, the biggest fantasy breed in HaRPG, and the founder of EquineRPG, a large roleplaying group for HaRPGers everywhere.  Not to mention, she has a great artist style, and the shiny muscle structures and reflective personalities seen in her horses can be recognized everywhere.  Definitely give this stable a watch; they're taking the world by storm, one Tacodanner at a time!

The annual Dragon Hunt 2013 was a huge success this year!  Sponsored by Nordanner, this show invited Nordies everywhere to come and showcase their dragon hunting skills.  The show turned out an astonishing 60+ entries this year, and that's without including the several dragon breeds designed specifically for Nordanner to use in the future!  Stables coming in for the epic hunt included Nordanner legends like MiscNapier, Argentievetri and RW-Nordanners.  However, gold was snatched up by the most epic Lord-StarryFace!  Silver and copper were earned by Ikiuni and Emii-M respectively, and Judge's Choice was given to none other than Rina-glxy.  A hearty congrazzles to all the competitors!

The 5th Annual Lilium Stables Arabian Horse Show!  This is one show to always keep an eye on, especially since this is its 5th year live!  It's always great to see HaRPG things lasting for so long.  This show is the biggest around for the Arabian breed, and this year was no exception- 62 entries were judged!  Top placers included HaRPGers like Jian89, who took home 3 Grand Champions and 4 Reserve Champions, AccaliaRose won 3 Grand Champions and a Reserve, and BlackGlassButterfly earned 2 Grands and 2 Reserves.  These three weren't the only ones to win big at this show, but we at the Newsletter congratulate them and everyone else!
