Happenings of a lucky lady.

BH Gannymede by femalefred This girl is a fabulous little warmblood with some great titles and wins. BH Gannymede is a H-I-E-F 4 Star (the highest rank before achieving Legend at death) and a H-E-W-A Finest Blood. She's does beautifully in eventing, with 1sts and 2nds studding her track record. Obviously, Maddie is an accomplished horse just by all of the titles she's already earned; not to mention that all of her offspring are also accomplished horses as well! Babies include BH Living on Jupiter, who promptly won her first show, and at barely a year old too! Gannymede is also pretty to boot, which is definitely an added plus. She's unfortunately not open for breeding right now, but give her owner femalefred a watch so you can get updates on this cute little creature!

You Say It All Without Ever Speaking by ofcowardiceandkings Could it be? It can! The one and only famous Doctor! This handsome Georgian Grande is known all around for his owner's lovely art skills, and his fabulous eventing skills. This tobiano grey's real name is SWS Running My Whole Life, and he's certainly been doing that for all the ribbons he's earned. He's gotten two 2nds and a 1st, and many more shows awaiting judgement. He's also known at his stable for a highly smart mind, and is loved dearly by all the little folk. If a horse loves kids this much, then he's a winner. Doctor's color comes from his sire, In The Midst of Mishappening, a very neat fellow that may still be up for breeding, in case you wanted a horse like the Doctor (and who doesn't?). As a matter of fact, Doctor, who happens to be a future HaRPG-Olympics winner, is available for breeding; before he was gelded, 6 breedings were taken for future babies. This gelding is a fantastic bit of horseflesh, so definitely give ofcowardiceandkings a watch so you stay updated on all the goings-ons of the Doctor!

One of my major contributors for the Letter wanted to mention her breed is having their 4th birthday this month!  They are known for their magical abilities, mostly teleporting, and for their spinal manes, and their bi-colored eyes.  They also have a really neat naming system for their coat colors, and details like that are always epic!  Take a look at the links above!

:iconthewolvenestates:' Quaggas For All ProgramOk this journal is intended for me to track and document my Quagga breeding program. This project is meant to be educational, good practice, and fun. Its not a MAJOR project, so don't expect it to be done right away.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this project is to breed part or bred back quaggas to spread to other HARPG ranches, zoos, or players. The Quaggas are meant to serve as both educational for a now real extinct species, promote conservation, and to spread some community fun.
What Is A Quagga?
Quaggas were a subspecies of Plains Zebra that were hunted to extinction by men. They stood 12-13.5 Hands High, with a distinct coat color. They were bay or chestnut colored on top, with pale or white legs and stomach. Their stripes were white and was concentrated to their face and neck. Stripes varies from thin to broad.
Process
Using standard system of art rpg, I will be breeding my own quagga stallions with eligible mares to create foals that shall be given to other playe

It's called Quaggas For All Program.
To summarize, I will be doing harpg breedings, using my own quagga stallion to sire half or bred back quaggas that will then be gifted/sold/or traded to other harpg artists. All art will be done by me, maintaining the basic standard for harpg of 1 breed pic = 1-2 foals. With a current goal of 25 foals to spread around; I'm gonna hate stripes by the end of it! However, the goal is to spread Quaggas through out the harpg community and to use them as ambassadors for this real life lost treasure, promoting knowledge and protection for other still living endangered species.

SO! Let's start!
:new: 10/07/2013 - I think it's more or less finished. Remember, this isn't supposed to be a detailed guide but one to give people a general idea over what the disciplines are and what the goals are!
Also, if I used a thumb that features your art/tutorial/whatever, and you don't like it, just tell me and please be polite about it. Be happy, not angry ;p I don't claim them in any way; I simply think they're beautiful and are great examples of what I'm trying to explain! It's a free feature!

He just snorted and pushed on, ignoring the pain he felt in his leg. Stacy had begun pulling back on the reins, trying to get him to stop, winning this race, meant nothing to her now that the bad feeling was back. Grenade fought like hell as he pushed forward, surging down the track, there was another sound, more sickening this time as Grenade went by the finish line.
He had finished the race, but at what cost? He wasn't the kind to give up and he hated losing, most of the pain had been blocked by the adrenaline run, but as soon as they had crossed the finish line, Stacy reined hard and Grenade went down instantly neighing loudly. His front right leg was at an awkward angle, it was obviously broke, though how bad, Stacy didn't know. She just knew that her horse was down, that he had passed the finish line and finishe

Grenade is a top Thoroughbred stallion in the racing world. With a jockey that loves him, it's no wonder he's placed in the top 3 across the board. But something goes horribly wrong in the Thoroughbred Triple Crown 2013! Will the champion survive a broken leg? Give SkyWolfSpirit a watch to find out.

:bulletorange: Long Live Moonfeather! :bulletorange:

Written by MissDudette

The Newsletter would like to take a moment to remember and acknowledge a great happening in the HaRPG community these last months. In late June, the original creator of the Horse Art RPG world stepped down from her role as Founder of the original group, in an effort to continue her passion of drawing horses. We would like to congratulate the new Founder, LucasBinx, and we wish her and her staff all the luck in running this amazing group.

Running the HaRPG group is quite an experience, as a Contributor/Co-Founder there, I can attest to those experiences. Honestly, I don't think I could have done it without my teammates, who were there to guide me every step of the way. But whenever I would get flustered, or a little down-hearted, moonfeather was there to boost me up again. I have to wonder, who was there to boost her up when she was feeling low? I'm not sure what it was that made her stay for so long there, but it might have been her love of the game, and what it could really mean for artists everywhere. People from all walks of life could get on the internet and hone their art skills and share a passion for that four-legged beauty called the horse. Sure, there were other sites that shared a passion for horses, gaming sites and forums come to mind; but the HaRPG on DeviantART was about actually creating a piece of art and sharing it to the world. In a way, it was the first site to give its users a real, tangible thing for their horses. Art is real; it's your drawings or paintings coming to life. If you couldn't have a real horse, you could have the next best thing; a painting of your dream horse, that YOU created all by yourself. Moonfeather really made that something for artists everywhere, and that's why her idea has flourished and will continue to flourish for years to come.

Let's take a little trip back to the past, and see some of the firsts in the HaRPG world:

June 20, 2006: moonfeather creates Screamer, the inspiration for HaRPG.
October 26, 2007: moonfeather creates the firstbreeding picturein HaRPG.
May 26, 2008: HorseArt-RPG is founded by Moonfeather.

One thing I've always liked about Moonfeather, and why I believe the HaRPG idea has lasted so long, was that she had this knack for helping people out. She was always very generous and super helpful to those who had questions and to those who might have been a little scared of joining. For me, it was always a neat thing seeing her help out new HaRPGers. Moonfeather was here a very long time, as I understand, close to 7 years! I unfortunately only knew her a few short years of that period, but I learned a lot from her while she was here. She really helped me to understand that the HaRPG was so much more than just a group. That it was a community, of artists and horse lovers alike.

We at the Newsletter would like to honor the glorious running of the HaRPG group under Moonfeather's wing, and we would like to wish her all the best in her new adventures. Long live moonfeather, and long live the HaRPG!

Like, what if?

<da:thumb id="283807679"/> X <da:thumb id="290620865"/>

TheTourmalineRose's Pantalaimon and Dark-FaNtAsY-Farms's DFF Blue Mystic Midnight Desire

ACK, I just love the this Matchmaking pair! I have a terrible soft spot for nebulas and stars on horses, and these two take the cake, especially that stallion. You might remember his owner when she wrote a gorgeous Creative Story for us back in March 2012. This gorgeous mare is new to me, though, but gosh I love her color! She's one of two (I think) Nebula Appaloosas running around. Now, on to the possible baby, wouldn't it be the sauce!? The colors would be marvelous for one; maybe blue based like the dam, with sparkle stars? Or maybe a little on the green/yellow side like the sire, but with swirls of nebulas! And the foal's temperament would be fantastic, as both parents have an aura of magic around them that we mere mortals can definitely feel. The stars are the limit for this pair! Now, if I can just get them together...

Want to suggest a pair? Or just a single horse? Want to see your horse here? Anything goes, simply submit your idea (with links) either in comment or note to HARPG-Newsletter!

:bulletorange: New Groups :bulletorange:

Groups rock, gals.

:iconthe-hbqa: or The Horse Back Quidditch Association! This new idea for interactive HARPG fun is 1 part creative, 1 part social and 1 part crazy! Based on the infamous game of Quidditch, an adaptation on horseback has been devised by the members of Saxon-Stable-Group and then turned into a league-table system ready for the Horse Art community to leap into. Put together a team, start challenging others to a match and climb to the top. Not got enough horses and riders for yourself? Another great opportunity to collaborate or get other people in on the action. There's nearly no one on the register yet so it's an open park!

HARPG-School a.k.a HaRPG School is a newly opened training school for your HARPG horses! We are ongoing and run by a group of great artists, who are ready to draw your enrolled horses. Whether or not you are able to enroll, our school will be offering many many chances to give off free enrollments! Keep your eyes open! Hope to see you there! :D

:iconh-i-e-f: or HA-RPG International Equestrian Federation, is a group for ALL HARPG horses out there. Though it is two years old, the group's goal is to focus members on developing both their human and equine characters and to encourage creativity. With a handsome set of leveling up ranks for horses and riders, and an emphasis on effort-based judging within their shows, the group is a landmark and the go-to in the HaRPG community. If you're looking for a group that does it all, and won't close in the next 5 minutes, then this is the one for your stable!

Want to suggest a Group? Or see yours here? Just make sure it's an unique Group, breed registries don't really go here. Send a link through Note or comment to HARPG-Newsletter!

:bulletorange: Featured Equine Breeds :bulletorange:

Equine breeds; Humankind's unique spin on God's horse.

Breedsheet by horselady36501 and :iconioer: A truly unique take on your usual everyday plucky pony! These cuties were featured back in December 2011, but they've since been updated! The Shony was created by carefully crossing small breeds of horses, that had a strong guarding drive, and a dense woolly type coat. Some of the founding breeds are the Galician Pony found in Galicia, in the northwest of Spain for their very rugged and hardy nature; the Yakut ponies of Siberia, Russia for high milk production, stout bodies, and adaptivness for harsh conditions; and a heavy influence of natural occurring curly coated stock from various breeds, as well as a now extinct breed that contributed the genetics of horns. With its use being mostly for guarding sheep, the terms Ewe, Ram, and Lamb have been adopted by breeders of the Shony, therefore making it easier on the farmer. In nature, the Shony is confident, gentle (especially with children), and affectionate. While territorial and protective of its flock or family when necessary, its general demeanor is of composure and patience and loyalty. It is a strong willed, independent and reserved breed. It is also attentive, quite fearless and loyal to its duties. Being somewhat stubborn to train once done, the Shony is a great children mount, driving animal, or general working or showing pony. The average height for Shonies is around the 9-12 hand/91-122 centimeter marker. There are also two types of Shony- hair and wool types. Get one for yourself today, you won't be able to stop at just one!

<da:thumb id="374451028"/> and :iconkonisporthorse: The ultimate Sporthorse breed! Created in Germany many centuries ago, the Koni Sporthorse started as an accidental crossing between Erik Königin's Thoroughbred racehorses and the Clydesdale studs from a neighboring farm during an unusual severe storm that nearly destroyed the area. Instead of destroying what was left of his prized herd, Erik decided to refine this new blood into something capable of more than racing or driving. He and his family introduced more established breeds, such as the Hanoverian, Trakehner, Andalusian and Friesian. After Erik's passing, his son Markus introduced the Dutch Warmblood, Knabstrupper and Welsh Pony, to further refine the breed and add color as well, and the breed did develop some odd mutations. This new breed excelled in Show Jumping, Dressage, Cross Country, Eventing, Polo, and even various Western disciplines. Ulrich, great-grandson of Markus and father of Katherin (the current owner of Ironstone), brought the breed to the United States and introduced them to the public. This breed was created by dyatori and imports can be seen here!

.:Tetovani Breed Sheet:. by johnmowfive and :icont-e-t-o-v-a-n-i: These amazing rainbow-glow ponies are absolutely striking! I love their colors and patterns, and their breedsheet isn't too shabby either (that group icon is to die for!). Created by johnmowfive, these horses would be great in halter or liberty classes. They're generally 50 :points: for a custom, but you can check out the Import Gallery and be awe-inspired!

:iconmushcock: This is the MUSHCOCK. They eat other horse breeds for breakfast! They rule the horsey plains of deviantArt. They live by no rules, for no rules could harness them. They love to cuddle, eat and kick a$$. They come in all colors and mutations imaginable. There are no import reclaims. All you need to do to get a horse for free is ask. MUSHCOCK FOR THE PEOPLE!

The Marandian by Jian89 and :iconmarandian: This breed became one year old recently and is still running on its own pace. More people find out about the breed and what was a private breed turned out to be a breed that is loved by its owners. Different genes and mutations make it so the breed has something for everyone. Currently we are running our own Summer Event; a bunch of silly games for fun, but with a horse as a prize!

If you want your or someone's else's breed featured, send a Note to the HARPG-Newsletter titled Horse Breed Feature with links to the breedsheet, breed registry (if possible) and breed history (if possible). I'll feature otherworldly and realistic breeds!

:bulletorange: Interview :bulletorange:

Featuring RowanWolves!

Introduce yourself and your stables to the Newsletter; what's your name and what got you started in horses?
Hello! I'm Shayne and I run Star In A Circle Stables. I got started into horses when I was very young; I've always thought they were beautiful animals. Another artist here on dA got me back into my love of English riding, after being introduced to it in middle school. SIACS is my little piece of paradise- the only way I can interact with horses in my life.

What inspired you to join the HaRPG community?
I saw abosz007's art one day on accident and I fell in love with their style of artwork. After seeing 'HaRPG' on a few different posts I looked up the group and my passion was ignited. I missed working with horses so much that I thought this might be a way for me to connect with them again and SIACS was born.

What are your stables about? What does your staff (if any) entail? What horse breeds does your stable work with and why?
My stable doesn't have a specific focus, but we are- to my knowledge- the only Pagan run stable in HaRPG. We have a fairly long list of staff members, but our main ones have been Camella Starre; stable owner and director, her nephew Desmond Haill, their newest trainers Damien 'Klik' Redfield and Katon Aisu and their head of staff Sebastian Muir. The story that I've been focusing on for them is that SIACS is a budding stable, not fully established in itself as I am not fully established as an artist at this time. We also focus less so on character's relationships, especially Klik's.

We work on several breeds of horses, preferably Mustang variants. We're currently one of the main breeders and importers of Black Tip Mustangs. I absolutely adore that breed for its interesting markings and the possibility for new genetic strains. We have also been working with Konoha Warmbloods and are celebrating the birth of our first Pure Obertaurer of late. We have a passion for tall horses. Haha.

Which of your in-game/real life horses do you feel you connect with the most?
I unfortunately do not have the opportunity to interact with horses in real life, but when I was younger I did take lessons and the horse I rode then was probably my favorite horse of all time. He was a handsome cherry bay Quarter Horse named Rusty and I loved him dearly. We rode for two years together and worked on Hunter over Fences. We won three ribbons together. I loved that horse and I was very heartbroken to have to quit riding. I'm still mourning the news of his passing in late 2012. He was 18 years old and had enjoyed a long jumping career and quiet retirement as a school horse.

Are there any major accomplishments with your stables? Like, are there any big wins? What mark has your stables left in the HaRPG world?
Major accomplishments? Ha we're still waiting for some. No really though, I think my stable hasn't made major changes to HaRPG yet, but we do plan on trying to contribute in any way, shape or form that we can in the future. This makes us sound kind of boring, but truly I think SIACS has the potential to leave a huge footprint in HaRPG, but as of late we haven't. Our personal accomplishments include securing our first Obertaurer, our work with an OTTB named Bold and finally coming back into the showing scene. We're off to a slow start but don't count us out. We hope to try and compete in this year's Olympics.

What are your plans for your stable's future?
Currently we're planning on trying to show all of our horses at least twice. On top of that we've been booking breedings for our stable favorite Castiel- a lovely red dun Arabian cross. Our future includes slowing down in our obtainment of horses and speeding up in their training and careers. We also hope to host another show in the near future, and many more after that. We're trying to expand the Black Tip Mustang breed and all around HaRPG's knowledge of horse genetics. Here at SIACS, genetic diversity is one of our biggest drives.

What got you into horse art? How long have you been drawing horses?
I started drawing horses at a very young age, but what got me back into drawing them now was probably the news of losing Rusty. I regret infinitely giving up my lessons, even though my family basically made me stop, I still wish I hadn't. After learning that I really missed working with horses. When I learned of HaRPG I saw it as a way to be able to connect with equines again and explore the competitive and breeding world. It's always something I've been interested in and now I have this unique community to connect with!

What tools do you use to produce your art? Where do you get your inspiration?
I use a small Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet. I couldn't tell you the exact dimensions, I'm not sure anymore. It's a little smaller than a sheet of paper. My program of choice is Paint Tool SAI, though I'd love to work with Photoshop someday, that day is not today. I draw inspiration often from my own creative mind- as an author, developing character relations is my strong point- but also from my past experiences as an equestrian, from events I see online and from my fellow HaRPG players. Things that impact many stables I like to also be involved in and work with.

Describe a typical day for you when you create art, do you have any sort of routine?
I do have a routine actually! It involved being inspired, dragging out my tablet, hard drive and reference images, finding an image(s) I'd like to work off of, setting everything up and then getting distracted by Tumblr for three to four hours before I actually start working around midnight. Haha. Some days I sit in my living room and crank out drawing one after another, and other days I can get one piece done before my brain gets tired out. It really depends but I always have to be able to sit up to draw. I can't draw in bed.

What are your plans for your artistic future?
I personally want to work more on learning my anatomy and cleaning up my style, as well as working toward more real and expressive art. I also am always working on shading and lighting, as right now I suck at it. My signature is my blur-backgrounds but I do hope to learn how to draw real backgrounds one day. I need to learn how to be patient with my art!

Have a bit of inspiration to give your fellow equestrians as a final word?
Don't ever look at other artists and think you 'aren't good enough'. Not everyone is going to be fantastic when they start out, but don't use other people to judge yourself. Use artists you admire as your drive to become better like them and to one day be that 'better' artist to someone else. There's no point in getting down on yourself about your art, it'll never get you anywhere, so keep your chin up and keep practicing, you'll always get better.

Welcome to HARPG's Lead Mare, a talent/halter show
by Decorum100

HaRPG's Lead Mare 2013 was a sequel to the landmark Supreme Stallion 2013, and it shined just as brightly (unlike most Disney sequels...)! Epic artists like CollidingStarsStable and BayloneRose arrived to show off their lovely mares. Taking top honors though was none other than Diamond Vale's own DWR Anezka 86! She's a gorgeous thing, and quite worthy of her new title. Congratulations to owner QueenHalloween!

If you've a show (or know of a show) that's just finished and want it featured in the Letter, send a link in a Note to us titled Winner's Circle!
